Brand identity: AtomOne, $ATONE #14
Comments
I do want to get away from the hex, maybe we can find something that is more true to nature, for an "ATOM". |
Hell yeah, nice to see you here. |
I will keep working around the Hydrogen molecule per @jaekwon's suggestion. Will also be submitting other directions around Jae's comment later today. Upon further research, I found this graph explaining the molecular formation—a good illustration that resembles the latest proposal: There is also another important layer of significance in focusing around the element of Hydrogen (H), as 'Hydrogen is a chemical element with symbol H and atomic number 1.' per the National Library of Medicine "Hydrogen, atomic number 1." |
Really cool 👍🏼 |
Some different mark directions based on @jaekwon's suggestions. Community feedback welcome. |
one of these looks like a deadpool ninja upset about a dad joke. ;) |
@jaekwon I thought we could revisit this mark under a new light. While it's not exactly in the 'molecular' vibe, I think it's a strong mark that could work for AtomOne—it's also resemblant of the 'O' for One. Thoughts? |
I think what you've done here is splendid. It might also be beneficial to get additional interpretations from other talented designers. Use this vital branding task to shine light back on the project. |
Yes, @FarOutAndCosmic, I’d love for other designers to contribute to this effort as well. |
Oh good, i'm glad someone is working on a new logo. I like the one with the "Molecular nature (Two H's Linked) Hydrogen Abundance Through Cosmos Interaction Between Parts" rationale. It sort of looks like it represents the split while still being science related. |
@wnmnsr @jaekwon Hey everyone! Speaking on behalf of the design team at AIB here. First of all, @wnmnsr nice skills & great examples!!! I just want to point out that whatever the community and @jaekwon will be moving forward with it would be wise to check the central piece of the future identity which is a logotype against several things: 1.) More likely than not, the logo gonna be the logo of the token. It means that the logo should work within the boundaries of the situations where a token logo can be used: in a portfolio list within a small window of a browser wallet extension, on coinmarketcap, on a backdrop (at some Cosmos or Blockchain event) that can be black, white, colored, etc., etc. 2.) The logo itself outside of it's token context also can and will be used in a handful of situations: web pages (dark theme, light theme, osmosis purple theme), printables (t-shirts, hoodies, cups, etc.), mobile apps, explorers, etc. 3.) An organization or organizations that will promote or help promote and move forward the fork will have to operate within very different contexts even with all the money in the world. A particular bad context can heavily affect the visibility of a brand identity. A fantastic gradient logo can be easily printed on a t-shirt somewhere in the US without any quality lost. However if you signed up for an event two days before it opens and have to print something in a very "specific" part of the world, you may get a very bad result because of the combination of two factors: complex logo & not great local printing traditions. Ideally, design the token first. Check it against different situations. Literally make screenshots of Keplr, Osmosis interfaces and try the token logos there. We can help with that. Some recommendations and basic requirements:
And the last words. This is gonna be a fork of the hub. This is not just another half-baked chain or a new cool hip token. We have to cater to a wide range of people, teams, companies, organizations. That's why the logo should be easy to use, easy to control, easy to handle, available to register in a handful of jurisdictions (but that's I guess hard to check at this stage, but like don't just copy Atom in the US😂). P. S. In no way, I'm a graphic or a brand designer. I design user experience and tools for developers, so my guesses and considerations are as good as yours. But I have to incorporate branding very often into the products that I handle. Let's not create one that will be hard to work with. In no way, we want to highjack or insert ourselves into the process. We're to help if it's needed. And again, already loving a couple of the ideas presented here. |
Great comments @AidarItkulov. Thanks for taking the time to write this. Eager to work in building the AtomOne brand with you and the rest of the community. @jaekwon, based on the gyroscope references (and @AidarItkulov's comments) I've developed a few more directions. Thoughts? |
@jaekwon ther's a problem with the tag $ATOM 1, as Sunny show here : https://x.com/sunnya97/status/1731677548713529521?s=20 I suggest something similar to " ATOMO " that in Italian language signify ATOM instead of ATOMONE, this suggests we should approach the name Atom0 rather than Atom1. What do you think ? |
I wouldn't categorize it as a 'problem' simply because Sunny says it so, but from a branding perspective, I would tend to agree to some extent that $ATOM1 might not be the most optimal ticker. However, I don't believe this is a critical issue. I believe that using the '1' as a differentiator brings to the table an element of departure, a new version of ATOM, a distinctive vision. If we were to consider other tickers, these could be some options:
|
I'm liking $ATONE. See the comment in #63 above for discussions about the ticker! |
I like $ATONE too. Referencing my comment in #63 for context:
@jaekwon in the 'atone' vein, I would like to re-submit this brand direction under a new thematic light. This approach hints at 'atonement', the fork in a new beginning, and the 'O' for One. Feedback is always appreciated. |
@jaekwon , whenever you're available let's talk about these proposals and/or where we go from here. |
Hey @jaekwon, we should revisit this conversation wrt to logo. @wnmnsr has done a great job contributing here. We should also use have a townhall focusing on this topic, I assume govGen will be responsible for deciding which logo ends up being used, but until then might be good to have an open conversation about it. @wnmnsr Would you mind passing the handle? You can reach me at [email protected] |
@Ticojohnny: credentials sent by email. As far as branding goes, I'm eager to keep the conversation going. I, too, think there are some directions with good potential. @jaekwon mentioned the same thing, we can officially vote on these once govGen is ready (and we can even brand govGen accordingly). Here to serve! |
ATONE look great ;) |
Did you want to submit your designs to the AtomOne Design Competition? |
Thanks for the reminder, @Ticojohnny . While I think a design competition is an interesting initiative to incentivize design inspiration from creatives outside of the AtomOne community, as a professional in the industries of branding and marketing, I have a policy against participating in such events. I believe AiB is in every right to host an event like this, but I just want to explain why I’m passing on this opportunity. I intend to continue my contributions to AtomOne as I have from the very beginning (when the fork was announced) in any task that doesn’t involve a competition. I continue to stand by each of the proposals (and their rationales) I contributed with before any prize money was offered and if AiB decides to use (or explore further) any of the proposals I have developed, I would be more than happy to continue with my contributions in this area. I firmly believe in AtomOne and @jaekwon ’s vision and want to continue to build from the design, branding, messaging and marketing areas. |
what I get from this is more like... lucifer, or the statue of liberty. |
@jaekwon new idea, for consideration. Rationale in the last image. |
Hello, all! Big salute to all your contributed designs here @wnmnsr Wanted to leave a quick comment here to say "i'm back" and would love to serve as well. |
Reserved the handle @_atomone (following Gnoland's handle nomenclature, @_gnoland) and have created a first direction for ATOM ONE's brand identity.
The handle is transferrable at the team's request.
With the team's support I would like to continue to develop ATOM ONE's identity.
