Feature Request

Add a setting to automatically "expire" events past the set event date (or final event recurrence) by setting the post to "draft" status.

This would help with custom queries and would allow queries to show only posts with "published" status.

Sugar Calendar originally did something similar to this, but in a "non-standard" way that wouldn't have been compatible with the iCalendar specification.

This is achievable, would need to leverage WordPress Cron, and would likely need to register a custom post status for passed or similar that is still "semi-public" since calendar views start to look weird when all Events prior to today are just missing. 🕳 🤣
