First of all the link for feedback at this link brought me here.

The tutorial on the page for React and Figma leaves much to be desired. It only shows how to bring in components from the AWS Amplify UI Kit. Nothing about how to design custom UI frames in Figma and bring them in and use as UI components. Maybe I'm confused and if so it is because the documentation is severely lacking. I'd rate it as 1 out of 10.

👋 Hi @bhartsb, custom UI frames in Figma are not supported by Amplify Studio. There is a section here about it if you wanted to read more: https://ui.docs.amplify.aws/react/getting-started/figma#figma-file. We essentially need to use the Amplify UI Figma file if you want to generate UI components

We apologize, the documentation for Figma-to-React in Amplify Gen 2 has been severely lacking. I am currently working on an overhaul of those docs for Amplify Gen 2. To be clear, custom components are supported, @timngyn's comment was just that starting from the Amplify community file is recommended.
