Is jooq-modelator still maintained

@ayedo , are you still maintaining the project?

In case you are, but currently are not able or willing to invest time into the project - which would be perfectly feasibly IMHO - please provide some feedback on the PR that has been open for a month.

If you don't want to maintain it anymore - perfectly fine as well - we could maybe have a discussion what the best options are for users that use the library at the moment.

I apologize for the late reply. Unfortunately, my priorities have shifted away from this project at the moment, and I open for discussion the options for the users of the library.

Thanks for your response, that means a lot. I figured that your prios would have shifted, as they sometimes do in real life :-).

Thanks anyway for having created the library, it has served me well in the past years. The currently available version is a bit outdated by now though. I cannot upgrade docker beyond 24.0.7, the version of jOOQ and flyway are quite dated, so we would benefit from a face-lift, as PR #21 suggests. Unfortunately, dockerhub requires a login nowadays, so a bit of setup would be necessary to make the build pass. I understand you don't want to spend much time on the project.

Options I can see in brainstorm mode:

a) Users (such as myself) provide PRs, You keep maintaining the project, but simply focus on checking PRs, merging them and releasing occasional versions to the gradle plugin portal.
b) You keep the repo but accept a co-maintainer who could do some lifting (checking PRs, merge them). I guess you'd have to release to the gradle plugin portal, if the same project coordinates shall remain.
c) You transfer the repo to somebody who would like to maintain it. From the new repo, the project would have to be released with new project coordinates to the gradle plugin portal.
d) You keep (or even archive) the repo, without further development. If so, it would be nice to be explicit about it. In case sombody continues maintaining a fork (ideally releasing to the gradle plugin portal using new project coordinates), it would be nice if you point to that repo.

IMHO any of those options would be ok, I might even miss one or a few other options.

My personal stake:

• I am interesting in a gradle plugin that combines jOOQ with testcontainers for postgres. Whilte it's not rocket science to do this manually in a project, using a plugin that hides some boiler plate would be nice. I'd be ready to invest some time for it, in whatever role (my favorite out of the options above would be a PR contributor for option a).
• I am not so much intersted in the liquibase support.
• It would be nice if something like jooq-modelator would be supported and maintained directly by e.g. testcontainers (see e.g. https://github.com/testcontainers/testcontainers-jooq-codegen-maven-plugin for a maven plugin) or jOQO directly.

I don't think that the project will require a lot of work/updates/releases, but an occasional version bump would be beneficial.

FYI: I migrated my application away from jooqModelator, as it was starting to restrict my options.

I thank you for the plugin, it has served me well in the past years. I understand if you have different priorities, luckily there are options.

For other users of jooq-modelator. If you would need to use newer versions of docker using recent postgres images, you might face similar issues as I did.

I migrated to a plugin that was developed inouse at my work and was open-sourced these days (https://github.com/Optravis-LLC/jooq-gradle). It is very opinionated, but the current versions cover my use case.

IMHO a more general purpose and very promising alternative to jooqModelator is https://github.com/revolut-engineering/jooq-plugin. I did not investigate in more depth, but that would have been my first option to really look into.

Sorry for the late reply, it's currently very difficult for me to find time and energy for open source work. I had this on my todo list for the longest time.

I am happy you found better alternatives that suit your needs, and I am thankful for communicating it here for others to find.
