How to pass the AuthenticationState Task cascading parameter to a component under test

I'm trying to follow on the examples we see in #146 to setup my component to test that receives the Task cascading parameter.

I haven't seen any detail on how to pass this to the component. so I tried retrieving the state provider like this
var stateProvider = Services.GetService<AuthenticationStateProvider>();

And by adding the parameter in the builder like this:
.Add(p => p.AuthenticationStateTask, stateProvider.GetAuthenticationStateAsync())

But when I check the task inside the component when debugging my test, it is null.

Do you have the required steps to achieve this? Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm using a different scenario to access the authentication state. I am using a cascading parameter as a parameter in the cs file, as can be seen in this example: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/blazor/security/?view=aspnetcore-3.1#expose-the-authentication-state-as-a-cascading-parameter

I'm querying the result of the task, and this is what I'd like to be able to mock/inject into the component under test

If you can show me a minimal example of a component under test and the associated test that fails, that would be great.

It looks as if the following works, as it is an unnamed cascading parameter. The other variant should also work, so I am fixing that

.Add(stateProvider.GetAuthenticationStateAsync())

What version of bUnit are you using, and are you using bUnits fake auth provider or your own?

thanks for the quick answer, I was actually using an old version (beta 9), with the latest beta (11) and the bUnits fake auth provider it works like a charm.

Note -- when using Razor syntax for this, the beta releases won't work, as the extension (AddTestAuthorization) within those just takes TestContext, and Fixture extends from TestContextBase. It seems this is fixed in 1.0.0-preview-01, and the extension correctly extends TestContextBase.

Just a comment for anyone else that gets to this discussion using razor syntax like I was. Caused some amount of frustration on my part until I looked at the source code within 1.0.0-preview-01 and saw it was fixed there.
