Currently the idea/templates plugins are not updated to the latest version of Android Studio.

When updating to newer versions of gradle/kotlin we should update the JAR files (produced by the plugins). however this should be done in a different PR

Let's discuss later do we need it or not, I have suspicion that nobody uses it.

Happy to chat. That would be easier than maintaining it (it's extremely out of date at the moment)
