We want to use ethsnarks gadgets wherever we can. This can be

The sha256 hash function
The eddsa signatures
Compress data passed as public inputs to the snark #33
Switch the groth16 prover and verifiyer provided by ethsnarks.

No 1 is ready to be used but the other two are not. @HarryR please advise when they are.
