During UAT:
None of the resources got copied over. Shouldn't they get copied?
Dunham-Wilkie, Mike CITZ:EX, current catalogue forces at least one dataset to be created when copying an existing dataset. Current catalogue (CC) doesn't allow for the dataset being copied to select existing resources, it only allows the editor/admin to create a new resource.
Current copy functionality in CC allows the user to:
modify any editable fields, including title (impacting the url), selecting a new org/sub-org
requires at least one resource creation in the copy function process
Business Requirement for New Catalogue is to allow a contributor to:
copy without having to create a resource
modify any editable fields, including organization, title, etc..
optionally select a resource to be copied during the Copy Dataset process
Business Case (from Mike): I believe there is a business need, when the client needs to create several metadata records, all containing the same supporting resources. For example the 20 or so census profile datasets, all needing to include the same StatsCan PDF documents. Part of the problem is that with the current Catalogue it is just painful to add resources.
