The DS test ROM's source code has been lost according to Mukunda, so a new one would have to be written.

The GBA test ROM's code could be utilized as a basis: https://github.com/asiekierka/mmutil/blob/master/player/gba/source/mmgba.s

Sounds good, but don't create any PR with a test ROM written in ASM. 😅
