Difficulty creating a VNC session

How do I troubleshoot creating a VNC session?

If you find yourself having difficulty starting a VNC session, try the following steps:

1. Ensure that you are using the same username and password that you use for SSH'ing to Oscar.
2. Make sure you are using the latest version from the VNC page
3. Check the Java version on your computer. We recommend at least java version 8.
4. SSH to Oscar (not through VNC) and run the command "myq" to see if there are any VNC jobs running. If there are, cancel those jobs using the command "scancel ". Now try using VNC.
5. Make sure you are not over disk quota using the command "myquota".

Oscar no longer supports VNC. Instead, you can request a Desktop session via OpenOnDemand. See more info in our docs

Thanks Isa! What are your thoughts on closing threads? I've closed this one and marked it as outdated. It's still searchable but not by default. The open threads filter is applied by default in the search bar.

Yes, closing is probably best for posts that are no longer relevant but it's nice they remain searchable!
