It would be nice for nullmailer to be able to start a ssh tunnel for outgoing connections. Doing so avoids the need to set up additional authentication, avoids some ISPs that hate mail, etc, adds privacy, etc.
There are ways to hack that up on my own, but that would require a bit of thinking to do right, and brain cells are in short supply these days...
Starting ssh from within nullmailer would avoid an unnecessary persistent connection. That too can be dealt with via inetd or some alternative, but again, brain cells not so abundant. When implemented (or described!) just once in nullmailer, the chance to get things wrong would be reduced.
