Subject Matter of Campaign

GTFS-RT Cancellations

Which teams are involved in this campaign

Transit Data Quality

Does this campaign have a specific deadline and/or timeline associated with it?

None

What is the reason for conducting this campaign?

I'm reaching out today because at Caltrans we're doing some research into the realtime data quality of GTFS-RT. Specifically, we're analyzing trip cancellation information. This information will help inform us of how agencies operate, what kind of data quality we are able to expect given existing technology, and potentially inform future protocols and research.

An extension to #527

What is the goal of this campaign?

Get agencies and some vendors to answer a number of questions for academic research.
I need more information from agencies without cancellations, how they operate, why they don't have cancellations.

Who does this campaign target?

A number of agencies and one vendor

Does your campaign request to hold interviews with the customers?

Yes

Do you envision needing a pipeline for this campaign?

Yes

We can modify the previous campaign guide a little bit, leave out Fares v2 and Latency research in the initial outreach and just make it about Gtfs-RT Trip Cancellations, and we should be golden.

I think compared to the previous campaign, the hit rate might be a lot lower since these are smaller agencies.

In terms of timeline, it would be great for Vivek to have scheduled interviews with enough agencies by mid-November.

@vevetron We'll do our best to get some interviews lined up for mid november! I made some updates to the campaign guide and have a couple questions/asks:

  • Can you put the suggested outreach script under Round 2 Outreach script section?
  • Would you like us to reach out again to the agencies on the airtable list that we've already interviewed? (not sure if this is a totally new interview or if it would be repetitive for the agencies you've already spoken with) I've highlighted the agencies in the campaign guide table if you want to take a look.

  • This is the same interview but with new subjects. I didn't get enough information from agencies who don't publish cancellations so I need more data. Let's not reach out to the old participants.
