Docker is Mounted But No Root. How do I proceed?

Coworkers don't want to use Root in their containers but still want to use docker. One of the options they are pressing on me is to add the docker gid to the "group_add" option under runner.docker section in config,yaml. From scanning through the repository there is no way to set it with this module. Does any have any recommendations on how I can proceed?
