Some users are using NumPy/SciPy stack provided by OS distributor (via yum/apt).
For example, RHEL 7 provides:

  • rh-python35-numpy: Python 3.5.x + NumPy 1.10.4
  • rh-python36-numpy: Python 3.6.x + NumPy 1.13.1

Ubuntu also provides python-numpy package.
