There are plenty of talks and meetups happening around cloud native sustainability. Searching and finding out about them can be difficult. By publishing a list of these events on our website, we hope to bring more folks in touch with cloud native sustainability. This groundwork could (?) eventually lead to the creation of a virtual library, where we can bookmark excellent talks, which can then be referenced next to the landscape document for a sustainability learning path (this is for now out of scope). The projects greenscraper and green-talks-scraper scrape websites to filter talks and events.

  1. Merge approaches: Combine both ideas (green-scraper & green-talks-scraper) into one project. Since this project may grow and may need additional logic, the approach with Go may be better suited.
  2. CI: Run the program and update an artifact file that can be displayed on our website. Perhaps the (public read) file can be stored in a blob storage hosted on our CNCF Equinix infrastructure. Or a workflow in the tag-env-sustainability repository could use the binary to dynamically create the list of talks and events statically by website build and deploy. Some work has already been done with the donation of the [green-talks-scraper] (https://github.com/cncf-tags/tag-env-tooling/blob/main/.github/workflows/green-talks-scraper.yml).
  3. Website Update: Update the events page of the tag-env-sustainability.cncf.io website.

Thank you so much @Al-HusseinHameedJasim and @wrkode for working on the initial projects to kick things off! If one of you or both of you would like to take the lead on this – write in the comments of this issue 🙏 Thanks!
