Improvement idea on account recovery with new extension installed

I ran into this scenario. I uninstalled my backpack extension and I had to log in again. So as the flow suggests I had to put in my username and my recovery phrase. But I realized that I was asked to set up a new password even though I had a password with my previous extension. So I was wondering if this behavior was done on purpose because in most cases you don't get asked to set up a new password but instead, you have to put in a password that already exists and is associated with your username.
