a) with setup of CDROM in primary master and HDD in primary slave, partitioning fails - it reports trying to partition unit 0 (which is primary master)
b) after manual partitioning MBR->RBD->DH0, installation (copying files) works, however after reboot virtual box reports "no bootable medium". Possibly due to change of location of grub, grub is correctly installed (or partition scheme is wrong; solve problem a first)
