omniauth-ldap (https://github.com/intridea/omniauth-ldap)

allow setting to force ruby-net-ldap to check server cert (LDAP Server certificate not validated omniauth/omniauth-ldap#58)
- implementation
- tests
- documentation
- upstream
~~fix issues where gem passes frozen strings down to SASL gem~~

Once fixes are tested, we should try to get them merged upstream

It looks like upstream is no longer being maintained, so we are de-prioritizing getting an upstream PR open
