[D3D9] Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SIXSTARS!!!!!! XTEND: Needs Framerate cap #4528

From my testing on my OLED Steam Deck and on my laptop (And checking around the community hub and pcgamingwiki), this game seems to require a framerate cap of at least 60. Without it, the game runs at the monitors refresh rate (90 on my OLED Deck, 120 on my laptop) which usually means it runs at double or triple game speed.

There are also 2 other versions of note that I believe also have the same issue, the Crowdfunding edition (Uses the same exe as the regular version which is AALib.exe, and the older Arcana Heart 3 Love Max which uses AH3LM.exe as the exe). I tried using the Framerate control option and that just tanks it down to around 30-40 FPS with noticable frame time spikes.

Log files

Please attach Proton or Wine logs as a text file:

  • When using Proton, set the Steam launch options for your game to PROTON_LOG=1 %command% and attach the corresponding steam-xxxxx.log file in your home directory.
  • When using regular Wine, use wine game.exe > game.log 2>&1 and attach the resulting game.log file.

On my OLED deck, I was able to cap it to 60 using "DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%"

This would not surprise me, as most of Examu's other titles seem to rely on vsync, and would otherwise run at an uncapped framerate - like if one tries to run the arcade Suggoi! Arcana Heart 2 with Gamescope and trying to force the game's executable to close, the attract mode runs as fast as humanly possible. It also affects trying to emulate the PS3 home port of Arcana Heart 3, which similarly requires (in this case, the emulator's) frame limiter to perform correctly.

Unfortunately I don't have a vrr display to confirm this, just an observation from the one of now two confirmed people that play these games. (^^;
