Following #24 we may get more contributions/improvements to the system if it is in an open source 3D modelling format like FreeCAD as it would reduce the barrier to entry for new users. Was wondering if the maintainers or someone from the community would be interested in trying this out.

We know that the step files can be opened but changing parameters/operators in a FreeCAD source file would also help new users to make iterations and improvements as they need.
