Updating eudev, using systemd source

libgudev-238 now requires a newer libudev 251 or higher. Eudev from eudev-project only provides version 243 as of 3.2.12. LFS has already started using systemd source to build eudev. Chimera-Linux has also done the same.

systemd source requires python module Jinja2.

Looks like forgot to build those BSD utilities, like in MLFS, when building GCC:

I need to take another build on CMLFS sometime soon, may I learn something that will help me on Copacabana and I've forgotten over these 2 years of inactivity here.

Have you looked at the search path? The only information that I've found in a 10 seconds search about this "printf.h" was related to a misconfiguration of the include path. Maybe systemd's build system goes crazy under a custom/bare-bone environment such as CMLFS.

I checked Chimera Linux. Applying patches from Chimera fixed it.
I had to modify the build & install commands from LFS:

Looks like collect is no longer built... not sure when systemd dropped that tool or if its function is handled by another tool

Yikes...

I may end up using a "script" to run the meson command. It may prove very useful for those that like to type out commands by hand [instead of copy and paste].

It is expected of the systemd source... there is no simple meson option to just build eudev. Probably on purpose to make it harder to just build eudev.

Roughly 3 months ago, eudev updated to version 3.2.14 which now provides udev version 251.... which is the minimal udev version required for libgudev-238 (the latest version at this time).

Does this mean eudev is now maintained via the eudev-project on github (as it is no longer maintained by Gentoo)?

If so, did LFS & Chimera chose to abandon eudev because systemD develops faster updates than the eudev-project?

Sticking with Eudev would mean Jinja2 is not required to build eudev
