Why is there no still life?

Nice project! It leaves me curious though: why is there no still life?

When I was playing around with code for doing continuous time stepping instead of discrete time, I found some patterns that would converge to still life, but I haven't seen anything like that with the discrete time step that's currently implemented.

I'm not sure either, but if people find a still life, I'd love to know.
