Current behaviour:
I have a Server host:port with auth method Auth1 in the Servers configuration. I have a different auth method Auth2 as default method of authentication. If I enter host:port into the server entry field in the toolbar, then it would be an attempt to search a server host:port with auth method Auth2. If there are no such server, then an anonymous server would created.

Proposed behaviour:
If there is a server with host:port with Auth2, then it should be selected. Otherwise, I propose to select any (first) server with host:port and any auth method.
