The Go to page function relies on authored pagebreak which may or may not be related to a printed version of the book. This is a recurrent and long discussion as authoring guidelines provide flexibility for content creators, and we cannot use known elements as dc:source being confident that it is the source for page breaks.

EPUB — Page Source Identification now provides an explicit metadata property pageBreakSource and Daisy knowledge base also provides a refine methodology to affirm which is the page source for page break Example 2 — Page break source identification (source-of).

Therefore, we have a safe way to provide page break source identification.

For now, documentation will provide that information:

  • Go to page, an authored list of page breaks. The page list may refers to a print version and allow to use the ebook in a mixed reading environment, so it becomes possible to locate or make a citation. In such case, Thorium Reader actually offers no mean to identify the related print book, it has to be textually and explicitly informed in the content by the content creator.

Example (we will probably want to be less verbose).
screenshot of the go to page panel with extra information: This page list is provided by the ebook creator, who informed that it is equivalent to the printed book identified as 9780000000000.

or
same screenshot but the additional information is at the bottom instead of being at top
