As seen in #34 this library is falling into disrepair.

As @tobert put it:

It may be worth looking at newer otel launchers that are likely more robust by now. When we wrote [this], it was among the first of its kind.

Examples for how to migrate away:

Move off github.com/equinix-labs/otel-init-go: tinkerbell/smee#438

https://opentelemetry.io/docs/languages/go/instrumentation/ offers packages that seem to accommodate the existing feature set of this project.
