[NEW] Local chat app for commuters with 3Box

The idea

Let’s use 3Box to build a new generation of local chat for Berlin’s commuter population!

A million people commute to work every day using public transport in Berlin and they usually hate it .. sweaty and crammed, they hardly ever interact with the surrounding strangers and just keep their head down until its over.

In times of the internet, we should be able to do better. The daily commute to work could be used as an opportunity to meet new people, build communities and do cool stuff together in the real world! All it takes is some coordination … you just need to know if there is someone interesting on the same train as you and if they are up for a chat.

But users are skeptical about sharing personal and in particular location data through centralized services. With 3Box this kind of data can be stored securely under the full control of the user. This opens the door to a new era of social networks: Apps that maximize actual real-world interaction, rather than clicks and likes.

About Me

I am a full-stack developer who has been in the blockchain space for almost 2 years. I have built several apps facilitating meetups and community building in a decentralized way. My first serious blockchain startup allowed individuals to launch their own personal bonding-curve tokens on Ethereum. That project didn't get a lot of traction though, so I switched back into traditional web development (JavaScript/React/Angular, Node.js, Python, Mongo.db, SQL, Docker) at the car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.

Skillset

I am looking for web developers and UI/UX designers of all kinds. Some experience with blockchain and decentralized storage would be preferable. Ideally you are equally excited about the possibilities of 3Box
