There is a template for bug reports. Please follow it completely. Especially the part about logs. Can't do much without the logs. Following is the template for bug reports:

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Go to '...'
  2. Click on '....'
  3. Scroll down to '....'
  4. See error

Expected behaviour
A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

Reporting Logs

  1. Download the HeliosDisplayManagement.Reporting.zip file.
  2. Extract it to the desktop. (or somewhere with write access for your user account)
  3. Execute the program and wait for it to end, then press Enter to exit.
  4. This will generate a log file right next to the program, rename this newly created log file from "HeliosDisplayManagement.Reporting.XXXXX.log" to a meaningful name, for example: "DisabledSurround.log" or "AllMonitorsExtended.log" so I know what the log is about.
  5. Switch to other modes (using Windows Control Panel and NVidia Control Panel) and repeat these steps.

At the end of this process, you should have multiple .log files each generated while your system was in a correct mode. Feel free to check the log files for any information you might not want to share with the public. Attach these .log files here.

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • Windows Version: [e.g. Win10]
  • Version [e.g. 22]

It seems that the logger couldn't pick your helios profiles. Please open %appdata%\HeliosDisplayManagement.Shared folder in explorer and send me the files that are there. I need to compare them to your display setup.

BTW, did you change anything regarding your display setup since creating that profile? Like maybe changing your monitor's connected port or other similar things?

Also,

It seems that the log file you sent is for when Surround is enabled. However, you mentioned having a problem with switching to surround in the first place; right? If so, please send me another log file this time captured while your PC is the extended mode (default three monitor setup of windows) and while Helios giving you an error.

You see, the error message indicates that something changed between the time you made the profile and the time you are trying to apply it. Therefore what I need is the log file of the moment you are trying to switch to the new profile and the saved profile configs to see if indeed something changed with your setup by comparing them.

The log file after switching to Surround doesn't help me much as it doesn't provide much information as to why you can't switch to surround in the first place.

I didn´t set anything else. I had windows 10 and I set it the same and it worked. I can't get it to windows 7 and I do it the same way.

I feel like helios doesn't recognize my monitors when they're in surround.

Nope, I use one display port and two hdmi. Display port is reduction with hdmi/display port.

Let get one step back. Do you have a problem with Helios switching to Surround or switching to Extended?

If you have problem with Helios switching to Surround, I need you to disable surround, put your system in Extended and then create a log file and send it to me. If you have a problem with switching to extended, the provided data is enough for me to see if I can figure out the problem.

And thanks for sending profiles. From what I can see here; it failed to detect your surround topology when saving the sorround profile. I will check this while waiting for your response.

I think I found the root of the problem. It seems that NVIDIA driver in your system just decided to not use the surround device id when creating the surround display. This is going to make it hard to detect a surround display but I will try to find a way around it.

However, a log when monitors are in extended mode still going to help a lot. This issue is now marked as a high-priority bug.

I have problem switching surround on helios. When I switch only surround with nvidia control panel, surround is working. Problem is, when I want to switch surround by helios.

Just a note that I experienced a similar problem. Was in standard mode, switched to surround for a bit, and then switched back to my standard profile using Helios. Nothing has changed since that switch as it was just last night, and I get the error about my display config changing. I'm on an Nvidia 1080Ti, so assuming it's the same driver problem.

Your program don´t support windows 7 because I have windows 10 again and it works.
