What is the difference compared to the current behavior?

With the switch, it will display a list of changed files, and let you choose which one to see diffs for (assuming your diff tool supports the --dir-diff option).

Without the switch, it will open a window showing diffs for the first file; when you close that, it will open a window showing diffs for the next file; and so on. There's no way to control what order you view the files, and no way to go back once you've closed a window.
