Resize / convert author avatars to reasonable size #153
Comments
Hi @LukasWallrich, this is actually one of the outcomes of the 'on-going' audit, as indeed, the size of the repository is not optimal and artifacts are huge for a relatively simple static website. I'm been prototyping a solution for it (not on a branch yet) so will assign this issue to myself. Ideally, we would enforce jpg or webp in your CI also. @bethaniley we might need that project board soon to avoid work collisions. |
I've set up the project board and a label for all IOI-related issues/to-dos! I'll add to-dos from the IOI grant and audit as soon as I have the chance. 🙂 |
Just realised that this issue is related to a previously raised one: #124 |

Given our repo size, it would make sense to revisit images - and an easy automated step might be to resize author avatars. Currently, we have a couple of very heavy ones, e.g., julia-pauquet at 16MB. If jpg are generally smaller than png, we could also auto-convert them.
If anyone know how to code that up, that would be great - otherwise I will see when I get around to asking ChatGPT.
