How to deal with driver can't make it to work

Because they're sick or away or something. Maybe an option to temporarily assign their customers to/among other driver/s

Not sure the best way to do this. Could be if a driver gets set inactive their assigned customers can be split into a temporaryCustomers array on the other driver models based on proximity to their routes.

There could be sub-routes of say 3-5 nearby customers and drivers could be assigned multiple subroutes, then you just need to temporarily reassign a few subroutes.
