With the growing number of packages it's difficult to find the way through them.

It would be useful to have another autogenerated page where they will be listed not in alphabetical order or as accepted/deposited and then alphabetical, but in the chronological order, so we may easily find out which were updated recently and which had no updates for several years.

Also, it would be good to classify packages dependently on their functionality. Presently, we have an overview of capabilities, where we tried to ensure that each package is listed at least at one page linked from http://gap-system.org/Overview/Capabilities/capabilities.html but this is not yet achieved. One could also think about some semiautomated solution to generate sublists of packages that are relevant to some particular area(s), e.g.

  • Group Theory
  • Ring Theory
  • Representation Theory
  • Graph Theory
  • Homological Algebra
  • Semigroups
  • Infrastructure
  • Interfaces etc.
Of course, a package may belong to multiple categories.

Maybe we should use keywords in PackageInfo for that purposes?
