A couple of ideas:

  • Blur animation and keyboard-up animation should start immediately after focusing the browser bar—together with the browser bar expand animation.
  • On CliqzTab:
    • There is a noticeable delay between tapping on the center search bar and a visual feedback: it takes some 100-200ms (?) before any animation starts. This might be perceived as unresponsive or laggy.
    • Make heights of overview-bookmarks-history bar and search bar the same; at the moment, they are a few pixels off, which results in a visual "jump" when focusing or blurring the search bar
    • Add animation on blur: at the moment, after blurring the search bar, the overview-bookmarks-history bar appears abruptly after the keyboard-down animation has finished.
  • After typing and deleting a query (completely), the background is un-blurred although the browser bar is still focused.
  • The blurred background after focusing the browser bar has a different color (or opacity) than the background of the search result. Therefore, the perceived visual difference when typing a query and getting results is bigger than necessary, which might be distracting. In addition, the user can see for a split second the blue button "more results" and the other search engine buttons before results kick in: this results in unnecessary flickering (this might be something that could at least partially be fixed in the mixer).
  • Optional: tapping on the blurred background could exit search mode.
