Can't click URLs in Neovim

Suppose I have a Neovim document containing a single line of text:

https://ghostty.org/

If I hover my mouse over the URL and press shift+ctrl, briefly an underline flashes, and the URL destination appears at the bottom of the screen, but then it instantly disappears, and the link cannot be clicked.

If I'm really quick, and spam shift+ctrl+left click repeatedly, eventually I time it exactly right and the URL opens.

I'm on Linux Mint.
