How do I use quick terminal with tmux?

I use tmux with fish and it works great in the normal (non-Quick Terminal).

When I invoke Quick Terminal, Quick Terminal just goes to tmux and detaches the normal terminal from tmux.

Ideally when I start Quick Terminal, it should not be within tmux, how do I get this behavior?

Not currently implemented on Linux, there's an open issue.

@mitchellh thanks for the reply; I’m using macOS and looking for a way to either customize what Quick Terminal runs, or otherwise detect Quick Terminal.

I’m using the suggestion in #3985 (comment) however that seems quite unreliable
