No notifications for plugin updates

I'm observing that I'm no longer seeing plugin update notifications in chat upon login anymore. I have my auto-update setting at 'Only notify me of new updates'. I will note that the two plugins that I have updates for are from custom repositories.

I'm still able to update through Plugin Installer and am able to see the updates in the 'Can be updated' section.
