How to sort files disregarding the .?

Say I have a folder with three files: a.txt, .b.txt and c.txt.
Both lf and ls take into consideration the . when it sorts them and print

.b.txt  
a.txt  
c.txt

however, tree command does not, and therefore prints

tree -a
.
├── a.txt
├── .b.txt
└── c.txt

which, to me, is a more natural way of sorting them.

Can I configure lf to sort the files alphabetically, ignoring the trailing .?

I've just made a more careful view of the open issues and it seems that to implement something like this a custom sorting function would have to be coded in somehow.
According to #618, this seems to be impossible right now.
If somebody else finds a workaround, do let me know.
