As we continue to foster an environment that values diversity and inclusivity, I propose a change in our project terminology to reflect our dedication to internationalism and embrace the cultural influence that software development and gaming have had on our industry. Specifically, I suggest replacing the terms 'Lead' and 'Junior' with their Japanese counterparts, '先輩' (Senpai) and '後輩' (Kohai) respectively.

Justification:

  1. Internationalism: Our company prides itself on embracing diversity and inclusivity, creating a welcoming environment for employees and users from different cultural backgrounds. By incorporating terminologies from different languages, such as Japanese, we demonstrate our commitment to celebrating global perspectives and acknowledging the influence of various cultures on our industry.
  2. Software Development and Gaming Culture: Both software development and gaming have a close association with Japanese culture. The influence of Japanese games and anime, particularly among the community of enthusiasts known as "weeaboos," is well-established. By adopting terminology rooted in this culture, we can create a stronger connection between our industry and the passionate community that appreciates it.
  3. Increased Engagement and Motivation: The usage of 'Senpai' and 'Kohai' may resonate strongly with our employees and users who are already familiar with Japanese culture or have a genuine interest in it. By using these terms, we can foster a sense of belonging and motivation, as it creates a shared language and cultural reference point among team members.

I believe that by implementing these changes, we can further strengthen our commitment to internationalism and inclusivity, fostering a more engaging and culturally aware environment for everyone involved in our projects.
