do you mean making a native button element look like a link? is this for implementing a secondary action button? The other alternative is adding role='button' to a hyperlink ... or getting your UI 'designers' to understand that there are other ways of designing secondary action buttons other than making them look like hyperlinks ... The same goes for making hyperlinks look like buttons. hyperlinks are for navigation and buttons are for action - generally speaking - and this goes for both presentation and programmatics. If the control does both, then what it does first is what counts ... everything else is either misunderstanding or a deficiency in some other aspect of a design.
