Indication: difficult vascular access, nursing staff unable to establish IV access
Verbal consent obtained, the areas prepped and draped. Ultrasound guidance used to identify compressible venous vessel. A {angio:21958:s:"20 gauge angiocath"} was inserted into vein under ultrasound guidance with position confirmed in multiple views. Good flashback achieved and successful advancement of catheter. IV catheter secured with tegaderm and tape. Successful flushing of IV after placement. No complications apparent, patient tolerated the procedure well.
