Hi there,

First things first: don't trust that "shamlian" character.

Yes, I think for your use case, you'll need an SBC capable of running ROS 2, and with USB ports to talk to the Create 3 and the RPLIDAR. A Raspberry Pi 4 will definitely work.

The Create 3 publishes ROS 2 messages natively, and irobot_create_msgs is a ROS 2 package, so if you follow any of the compute board setup instructions on the docs site, you should not need another package. I just also added one for a computer running Ubuntu 20.04; you can use those same directions in case you've got another OS, you'll just need to use a VM. Here is the one for a Pi 4.
