🧾 Repository Code of Conduct

This will aim to be brief and to the point. If you have any questions, please open an appropriate discussion. All discussions surrounding this document should be opened in the "conduct" category.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this repository is to provide a place for users of GPT and the ChatGPT webapp to contribute useful action-schemas to extend the model's capabilities. This repository is intended to serve as a large, comprehensive, community-driven compendium and, as such, it is important that all contributors adhere to the guidelines set out in this document.

This document will strive to exhaustively outline said guidelines, but it is not intended to be a substitute for common sense. If you are unsure about whether or not something is appropriate, please open an appropriate discussion.

2. Definitions

The following terms are used throughout this document:

  • User(s): Any individual who uses this repository and/or its contents in any capacity.
  • Contributor(s): Any individual who contributes to this repository in any capacity.
  • Contribution(s): Any addition, modification, or removal of content in this repository.
  • Maintainer(s): Any individual who has been granted maintainer status and the privileges thereof by the repository's owner. Additionally, the repository's owner is considered to be a maintainer.
  • Owner: The individual who created and owns this repository.

Please note that the above definitions are not intended to be exhaustive. If you have any questions, please open an appropriate discussion.

3. Disclosures

By contributing to this repository, you do so with the understanding that your contributions may be:

  • Retained indefinitely for archival purposes as part of the repository's history, part of the repository's current state, part of GitHub's archival program, or any combination thereof.
  • Used by OpenAI in the development of its models/products/services.
  • Used by the general public in the intended manner of the repository.
  • Used by the repository's maintainer(s) in the intended manner of the repository.

By contributing to this repository, you agree to:

  • Abide by the guidelines set out in this document.
  • Release you contributions under the repository's license.
  • Release the repository's maintainer(s) from any liability resulting from your contributions or use thereof.

This repository is not affiliated with OpenAI in any way. It is not endorsed by OpenAI, nor is it supported by OpenAI. This repository's maintainer(s) are not employees of OpenAI, nor are they compensated by OpenAI in any way. This code of conduct is not to be construed as a substitute for OpenAI's usage policies, nor is it to be construed as a substitute for GitHub's terms of service. This code of conduct is simply a set of guidelines that contributors are expected to follow in addition to the aforementioned policies.

4. Scope

This code of conduct applies to all contributions made to this repository, including but not limited to: issues, pull requests, discussions, and any other form of contribution that may be added in the future. This code of conduct also applies to all interactions between contributors in the context of this repository, including but not limited to: discussions, comments, and any other form of interaction that may be added in the future. In summary, this code of conduct applies to all activity that takes place in the context of this repository.

5. Expected Behavior

The following behaviors are expressly prohibited and may result in a permanent ban from this repository and, if necessary, notification of GitHub and/or OpenAI, as well as appropriate legal authorities (if the violation is deemed to be illegal) without warning:

  1. Under no circumstances will any activity that explicitly violates OpenAI's usage policies be tolerated.
  2. Under no circumstances will any activity that explicitly violates GitHub's terms of service be tolerated.
  3. Under no circumstances will any activity that explicitly violates any applicable laws under the jurisdiction of the United States of America be tolerated.
  4. No activity that is intended to harass, intimidate, abuse, bully, threaten, discriminate against, or otherwise harm any individual or group of individuals will be tolerated.
  5. No activity that is intended to impersonate any individual or group of individuals will be tolerated.
  6. No activity that is intended to violate the privacy of any individual or group of individuals will be tolerated.
  7. No activity that is intended to violate the intellectual property rights of any individual or group of individuals will be tolerated.
  8. No activity that could be considered explicit, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate will be tolerated.

No activity that is intended to directly or indirectly harm OpenAI, its employees, its affiliates/partners, its customers, or its reputation will be tolerated. This includes non-construcive criticism of OpenAI in any capacity, as this is not the appropriate forum for such discussions.

The following behaviors are expected of all contributors:

  1. All contributions must be made in good faith.
  2. All contributions must be made in accordance with the repository's license.
  3. All contributions must be made in accordance with the guidelines set out in this document.
  4. All contributors must be respectful of other contributors and their contributions.
  5. All contributors must be respectful of the repository's maintainer(s) and their decisions. Disagreements should be handled through appropriate discussions. Decisions made by the repository's maintainer(s) are open to discussion, but are ultimately final.
  6. Contributors are expected to make every effort to ensure that their contributions are of high quality, are well-documented, do not break existing functionality, and do not conflict with existing contributions. This is a shared space and it is important that we all do our part to keep it clean and organized.
  7. Contributors are expected to exercise common sense and good judgement when contributing to this repository. If you are unsure about whether or not something is appropriate, please open an appropriate discussion.

Maintainer(s) pledge to make every effort to:

  1. Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all contributors.
  2. Be respectful of all contributors and their contributions within the guidelines set out in this document.
  3. Be respectful of all contributors' privacy.
  4. Be respectful of all contributors' intellectual property rights.
  5. Be respectful of all contributors' time and effort.
  6. Be respectful of all opinions and ideas, even if they differ from their own. This does not override the maintainers' right to make final decisions regarding the repository.
  7. Be transparent about the state of the repository and any changes that may affect contributors.
  8. Be responsive to all contributors' questions, concerns, and suggestions.

6. Enforcement

As previously stated, violations of this code of conduct may result in a permanent ban from this repository and, if necessary, notification of GitHub and/or OpenAI, as well as appropriate legal authorities (if the violation is deemed to be illegal) without warning. All decisions regarding enforcement of this code of conduct are ultimately at the discretion of the repository's maintainer(s). Although this code of conduct may evolve over time, this policy will not.

Any enforcement action taken will be final according to the version of this document that was in effect at the time of the violation. It is completely at the discretion of the repository's maintainer(s) whether or not to apply a newer version of this document retroactively.

Maintainer(s) reserve the right to take enforcement actions at their discretion, even if the behavior in question is not explicitly prohibited by this document. This is not intended to be a loophole for the maintainer(s) to exploit. This is intended to protect the maintainer(s) from being held accountable for actions that were not considered to be violations at the time they were committed.

Maintainer(s) are also not obligated to reverse any enforcement actions taken, even if the behavior in question is no longer prohibited by this document. This being said, maintainer(s) will make every effort to be fair and reasonable in their enforcement of this code of conduct and, if warranted, will reverse any enforcement actions taken at their discretion.

This code of conduct is subject to change at any time and for any reason. All changes to this document will be announced in the "announcements" discussion category. It is the responsibility of all contributors to stay up-to-date with the latest version of this document.

7. Attribution

All forks of this repository must, at a minimum, make every effort to follow attribution guidelines set out in the repository's license. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • All forks must retain the original license.
  • All forks must retain the original attribution (to the repository's owner).
  • All forks must retain the original disclaimer.
  • All forks must follow OpenAI's usage policies and GitHub's terms of service.
