To dos:

  • Update base year load factors
  • Reference the related literature
  • Change load factor values over time
  • Change load factor values across SSPs based on SSP narrative elements

Description:

  • Ideally, this should be a function of LDV per person, some demographic factors and daily/long-distance travel patterns/share.
  • Given the lack of data, I am using this and VDT to balance the base year LDV stock numbers.
  • Historically, both US and EU, had load factor values around 2.5 till 1970-80s and from then fell over time, with increasing car ownership.

R12_AFR: --> 2.2.
The legacy value is probably too low. Especially since here and in R12_MEA we assume a lot of informal transit (other than vans, dalla dalla) go towards LDV mode share.

R12_SAS: --> 2
It was 2.5 in studies from 2006-2015. However with the increase in car ownership during & after that period we can assume it fell.

R12_CHN: --> 1.75
check China specific issue link here

R12_PAS: --> 1.807
