In util/upcheck do you need to have line 78 include sudo?
rm $lockfile -> sudo rm $lockfile
good stuff by the way, I have a hodgepodge of killagreg, waveform80, PyImageSearch, and your ideas with a few tweaks of my own running on the RPi 3B+, My CPU maxes out at around 6% so far which is far better than I had hoped for. Thank you.

Don't remember; at some point I may have had the original process started from root hence the lockfile could only be deleted with root privileges, but of course that's probably not the best way to do it.
