Hi,
thanks for the useful plugin, but i have a problem with my g+.

Everytime i try to post, i get a mail from google saying that there's been an attemp to log in my account from another location. In fact i live in Italy, but my server is in Germany and when i try to post wgplus logs in my g+ from Germany.

I don't have the google mobile confirmation or the 2 factor autentication.

Is it possible for me to use the plugin or not?

Thanks for a reply.

WPGPlus works by logging in as you from your server - the web server where
your WordPress install is.

That will likely always be true - whether that's a problem or not I don't
know. Does Google not allow logins from multiple places?

More to the point, my guess is the current version may not be working for
you as it is hard coded to use plus.google.com.

I've asked in the forums for folks from other domains to let me know what
urls they use.

Do you use plus.google.de, or plus.google.it, or plus.google.com?

What happens if you request http://plus.google.com/app/basic/share/ while
logged in to your google plus account - do you get redirected to somewhere
else?

Hi John, and thanks for your reply. I'll go straight to the point:

  • i login to g+ through the page plus.google.com.
  • plus.google.it is not even a registered domain.
  • when i requesto the page plus.google.com/app/basic/share i don't get
redirected. The page that opens is a g+ page to share some content.

The problem is that google, as a security service, is trying to avoid
multiple logins. When i post my article on the blog the login request comes
to google from the germany, not from italy where i usually log in. I think
the problem is not your application, but google itself. Is there any
workarround?

None that I know of. I was asking about .it because I understand (from what
I've heard in support forums, not from first hand experience) that there is
at least an accounts.google.de in the process, if not plus.google.de.

If there isn't a setting somewhere in google plus settings to allow logins
from elsewhere then you may be out of luck.

Because Google+ does not currently provide a true read-write API there is
no way to post other than impersonating a user. I suppose there could be
some way to make your server in Germany post through a proxy somewhere in
Italy but it would not be simple.

I know I once saw a WordPress plugin that just added a "share on Google+"
button inside the admin, once the post was published - you have to do it
manually each time, though.

Interesting - I know that's policy, but I haven't run into any enforcement
here in the US. I'm often logged in in a browser on my home machine, my
laptop, and my phone, and have WPGPlus logging in without issues.

My server is in the US and I am in the US, but it isn't near me - it's a
few timezones and hundreds/thousands of miles away.

Sorry to hear it but I'm afraid there's not much I can do until they offer
a real API.

Yes, i understand it's not a bug or a failure of your software, i will have
to manage with google policies.

Thanks anyway for the support. Cheers.
