Batch changing package category does not work as expected

While mass-uploading a number packages and needing to assign them different categories I noticed that selecting a different category in the batch-edit dialog does not actually take effect in the package list. Other attributes like Staging/Production are properly changed but the category is not. The only working method to change the category is to click on the name of the package and make the change there individually for each package, which is tedious.

One additional note is that even though the category in the package list doesn't change when going back into the batch change dialog the category does actually show as what was previously chosen, but still the change to the category is not picked up unless done individually.

Change category in batch edit dialog to Application, update:

When selected in batch edit again, category is Application:

Select package in individual edit mode:

Change to Application:

Now the change is correctly applied:
