task site is duplicating the jbake output - intentional? #1

The task definition site is duplicating the jbake output into a site directory. Is this done intentionally?

task(site, type: Copy, dependsOn: [jbake]) {
    destinationDir = file("$buildDir/site")
    from jbake.output
}
