WEEK 01 (INTRO / ROTO)

LECTURE NOTES - POINTERS TO KEEP IN MIND FOR ROTO

  • Keep Control Points to a Minimum
  • Create Separate Shapes
  • Use as Few Keyframes as Possible
  • Study the Footage
  • Consider Animation Principles
  • Learn how to apply Global Offsets or Ripple Edit
  • Simple Planer Tracker Usage in Roto(Second Week)

WEEK 02 (Tracking / More UI)

LECTURE NOTES -

  • Tracking Introduction
  • Simple 4 point tracking workflow in AE
  • Simple 4 point tracking workflow in Nuke

EXERCISE

  • 01 - easy, all 4 points visible
  • 02 - easy, pressing home button, 1 point is missing
  • 03 - medium, try planer tracker from mocha or nuke here
  • 04 - medium, try planer tracker from mocha or nuke here
  • 05 - medium, try planer tracker from mocha or nuke here

WEEK 03 (Prep - CleanUp)

LECTURE NOTES -

  • View shot few times / task notes
  • plan how to do cleanup ( tracking / painting / etc )
  • try finishing one frame
  • repeat process on other frames (track / patch)

EXERCISE

  • 01 - easy, clean board, make it white glass/plastic
  • 02 - easy, remove billboards/ paint roof tops
  • 03 - medium, clean logo on mobile screen(reflections)
  • 04 - medium, clean logo on mobile screen2
  • 05 - medium, remove wounds on face
  • 06 - tough, clean logo on mobile screen

WEEK 04 (Design)

LECTURE NOTES -

  • intro to AE Text Engine
  • intro to AE Shape Engine
  • intro to mask vegas approach
  • intro to audio visualization enging
  • how to study / use AE Design Kits

EXERCISE

  • 01 - design simple 30 seconds intro
    • try to match beat
  • 02 - design mid term project ( AR / VR)
    • try to lock activity (KISS - keep it simple stupid)
    • try locking few frames first

WEEK 05 (Color / Keying)

  • curve / HSL

  • Put an image in an environment and match lighting / toning as much as possible

WEEK 06 (3D Tracking / Shading / Rendering)

  • locating points / planes in 3d
  • verify in ae / nuke
  • verify in 3d after export
  • learn to orient 3d world on both sides

EXERCISE 1 - 3D Tracking & Verify

  • 2 shots, do simple 3d tracking, place 2d / 3d object / element in it

LECTURE NOTES (3D Shading)

  • create pano image while shooting
  • use pano image to lit the 3d scene
  • setup PBR shaders and matte shaders
  • create RENDER PASSES / controls for post
    • color / main / beauty

    • reflection
    • ambient occlusion
    • vector / motion blur

  • 2 shots, do simple 3d tracking, 3d object / element in it

WEEK 07 (3D Displacements / Deformations)

EXERCISE 1 - Give Persp Shift to OLD Painting

EXERCISE 2 - Animate Worm Under Skin (Face or Hand)

EXERCISE 3 - Track a logo on deforming surface

WEEK 08 (Particles)

EXERCISE 1 - Create Simple smoke over chimney

EXERCISE 2 - Create Simple Energy Ball

EXERCISE 3 - Create Shockwave Ring
