Fix the 'New project' button

It should be possible to click the 'New project' toolbar button to:

ask if the current project should be saved if it has been modified with an option to cancel
abort this process if the user clicks cancel
save the current project if needed
close the current project unless the dialog was cancelled
create a new project and present activate the first screen
