Just thought I would share in case anyone else ran into the issue I had. I have a Creality LD-002R which is on the list of supported printers but after doing a clean Pi Zero W setup with Mariner, I was getting any Unsupported Format error for every ctb file I attempted to print.
I'll spare you the long troubleshooting details but it ended up being that all I had to do was a firmware update on my printer's mainboard. I grabbed the firmware from https://www.creality.com/download put the files on my usb drive and then "printed" the bin file to do the update. You can also do the screen firmware update (which I did), but not sure if that was needed to fix the unsupported format issue or not.
