How do you add markers?

Version 3.3.2.

The playback menu UI (and toolbar) has these facilities:

• Previous Marker
• Next Marker

But I can't find any mention of "marker" in the documentation, particularly how to add them, and/or distinguish between the cursor and markers.

Markers are actually text events. You can insert one on the Text row at the bottom of the piano roll editor and change Type to Marker in the Event column at the right.
